A quieter corner of Tuscany
The Maremma is the south-western corner of Tuscany — farmland and wooded hills running down to a long, pine-backed coast. It sees far fewer visitors than the country around Siena and Florence, and it is all the better for it.
Everything on this page is somewhere you would drive to. The house is deep in the countryside, so a car is essential — see getting here.

Talamone
A small fortified village on a rocky headland at the southern edge of the Parco della Maremma, with a harbour, a castle above it and reliable wind — which is why you will see kite and windsurfers out in the bay.
